This article provides a quick operation checklist to ensure your filtration system is working correctly.
Instructions
1. Test the water - take a sample of raw water, and cold/hot filtered water.
2. Confirm the bypass valve is in the service (flow) position. You can double check for cross connections or additional valves on the plumbing here as well.
NSCCTOSSA, NSANSSA, NSAPFSSA, and NSAPFXLA models:
3. Check the drain flow control, clearing any obstructions in the elbow or line:
4. Check the cam and switch operation - use the electronics to cycle through a recharge and watch the positions on the cam (pictured). Each cycle has a letter on the cam to represent it. 'S' is for Service in the example below. It should stop at BW for Backwash, and R for Rinse.
AIV/EIV - Service, Backwash (15 min), Air Draw (75 min)
PF / ECCWS - Service, Backwash (25 min), Rinse (5 min)
5. Confirm the unit is plugged in to a live outlet, and not connected to a light switch.
6. Check the programming - current time, recharge time, days between recharges (once per week avg. - check owner's manual for guidelines)
Maintenance
Neutralizing Filters - Add media per the directions in the manual, and check for freeboard requirements. After rebedding, follow complete startup steps as you would during initial installation.
Carbon Filters - Life of carbon depends on incoming water quality. High amounts of tastes and odors may shorten carbon life. Activated carbon can not be regenerated, it needs to be replaced when exhausted (follow manual for mineral bed replacement).
