Is a homeowner having trouble with a leak from their system's bypass valve? Let's pinpoint the leak and get it fixed.
Let's check for leaks at the bypass valve's connections. The bypass valve may have either 2 clips or 4 clips, depending on its size and style.
- If the bypass is leaking from around the black retainer clips, we recommend replacing the O-rings at the leaking connections.
Note: If the leak continues after replacing the O-rings, we suggest replacing the bypass valve itself. In the unlikely event that a leak still persists where the adaptors fit into the bypass valve, we suggest replacing the installation adaptors. If a leak persists where the bypass connects to the valve inlet and outlet ports, then we recommend replacing the valve head.
- If the bypass is leaking from one of its threaded connections, you'll want to replace the threaded component. Depending on the model, this could be the bypass valve itself or a separate installation adaptor connecting to the plumbing.
- If the bypass is leaking from either end of the sliding stem, we recommend replacing the bypass valve.
