Has a customer noticed the tank is dry and has no water in it at all? Sometimes there is water and it’s just hard to tell. Normally, the tank will have 2-3 inches of water in it while it’s in service. Let’s go through this article together to check on that.
Go ahead and open the top cover. You need to look down the brinewell (black tube with numbers on it) and see if there’s any water in that tube. You may need to open the lid of the brinewell or take the cover off, depending on your model. It’s dark, so you may need a flashlight to see. Is there water at the bottom of the black tube?
- YES – You do have water in the tank! It was just hard to tell. It shouldn’t have more than 2-5 inches. If there is more than the 2-5 inches check out our Excess Water in Tank article.
- NO – You need to make sure the bypass is open on the unit. The bypass is on the back of the unit and should be pulled OUT. When it’s pulled out this allows water to flow through the system.
If the bypass is pulled out and the tank is still dry, follow our article Is My Softener Filling?
