If the system is using an excessive amount of salt, it's recharging much more than it should. Let's figure out what's going on.
1. Check for external leaking at the Valve Head, Bypass, and Brine Hose connections. Excess water in the tank could increase salt consumption.
2. Check that 'Max Days Between Recharges' is not set too low in the programming (ex. 1 or 2 days). Manually scheduled recharges run at the max salt dosage.
Access this setting by holding the Select button until '000' appears. Then use the Select button to flip through the menu to the 'Recharge / Days' screen.
3. Check the hardness programming is set correctly for the location and water source.
4. Check for leaking faucets or toilet flaps in the home that may be triggering the unit to recharge too often. Look out for sprinklers and garden hoses that may be softened.
