Some of our tank filters do not have filtration media preloaded during manufacturing. This article guides you in loading the media before installation.
Choose the Unit Below:
ETF2300EIV / ETF2300PF
1. Take off the top cover, disconnect the electronics, and set to the side if you have not already done so.
2. Remove the retainer clips and clamps from the tank neck, and carefully lift the valve off the unit:
3. Check that the height of the riser pipe is no more than 1/2” above the top distributor. If it is, confirm that bottom distributor is below gravel at the bottom of the tank. It may be necessary to lay the filter on its side to move gravel to one side, hold the bottom distributor at the bottom center of the tank and stand the unit back up. Level gravel after checking.
4. After confirming the riser pipe is seated properly, remove the top distributor basket and O-rings.
5. Fill the tank with 1-2 feet of water and tape off the riser tube to keep media from falling in.
6. Using a funnel - add gravel, sand (if applicable), and media in that order:
7. Flush top of neck area with water to clean off, and remove the tape covering. Fill the rest of the tank with water (eliminates air space).
8. Install O-rings seals and top distributor as shown in step 2. Use silicone grease to lubricate O-rings.
9. Lower the Valve Head back onto the tank and push down to seal O-rings. Reattach the clips and clamps around the valve.

1. Bypass the system by turning both handles perpendicular to the flow of water:
2. Using the included wrench, loosen the top cover by turning counterclockwise, allowing pressure to escape. Unscrew the top cover to and lift it off the head.
3. Lift the cover off and make sure the white plastic filter basket is still seated. Do not remove the filter basket. Add media through the crescent-shaped opening in the bottom of the filter basket:
4. Make sure the threads are clear of media, and then reassemble the top cover, turning clockwise with the wrench to tighten.
5. Place the bypass back in service, with both handles turned in the direction of water flow.
