When looking to use an alternative RO faucet, you'll want to keep in mind 2 specific features to look for. Check them out below!
1. Hose Connections
The system has three hoses (pictured below) that run to the faucet base. You'll want the faucet to be able to house the following hoses:
- The red hose (1/4") carries the drain water from the osmosis manifold to the faucet base.
- The drain water passes through the air gap and runs down through the black hose (3/8") to the drain pipe under the sink.
- The blue hose (3/8") carries the clean product water to the faucet spigot.
2. Air Gap
It's extremely important to have an air gap on the system to reduce the risk of drain water backflowing into the filters. The air gap commonly looks like a small key-shaped hole on the back of the faucet base. The only exception to this is if you're installing the RO system in a remote location.
