This article provides some quick tips and reminders for installing, operating, and maintaining your reverse osmosis system.
Things to Remember
- The product water rate is .5 to 1 gallon per hour
- Tank takes 2-4 hours to fill from empty.
- Product water may drip from faucet during a purge (this is the actual production rate).
- Tank stores 1-3 gallons of water, depending on the feed pressure.
- Ice makers can be tee'd into the blue 3/8" product line.
- Multiple tanks can be added to the system for more storage volume, by way of a tee'd yellow line.
- Water pressure from faucet is approx. 1/2 - 2/3 of the feed pressure, due to system process (auto shutoff, membrane, storage tank).
- Water will run to the drain (process water) producing reverse osmosis water until the auto shutoff activates and shuts off the feed water. Auto shutoff works with feed water and product water pressure.
- The unit can be installed remotely, using an alternative air gap (air gap on facuet is not used).
- Feed water to the reverse osmosis unit should be a cold-water supply, softened if possible.
- The hole for faucet installation should be at least 1-1/4" diameter.
- Colored Tubing:
- Green - cold feed water (1/4") tubing to green collet on manifold.
- Yellow - storage tank (3/8") tubing to yellow collet on manifold.
- Red - drain line (1/4") tubing from faucet (or air gap) to red collet on manifold (gray elbow).
- Blue - product water (3/8") tubing from faucet to blue collet on manifold.
- Black - drain tube, from faucet to drain adaptor (gravity flow, shortest direct path).
- Pre/Post filter have 6-month lifespan.
- Membrane replacement every 2-5 years depending on feed water quality (hard/soft feed).
- Sanitizing procedures in manual, or in Sanitizing article.
- Follow instructions in Owner's Manual for filter purging and new install or filter change.
