This article describes how NSF Standards 60 and 61 pertain to the 385 Reverse Osmosis system and other point-of-use filtration systems.
The 385 Reverse Osmosis Unit is not certified to either NSF 60 or 61, but neither are the appropriate standard for testing the material safety of a residential R.O. system
NSF 60 is for testing the materials safety of chemicals.
NSF 61 is for testing the material safety of components. Section 1.2.2 of NSF 61 specifically excludes POU (Point-of-Use) devices.
The 385 RO is tested and certified for material safety, performance and structural integrity by NSF International to NSF/ANSI 58.
