A softener can drain up to 2 gpm during a recharge cycle through the valve drain hose. We recommend performing a quick cleaning on the drain hose and adaptor once a year to keep the system running smoothly!
1. Bypass the water softener by pushing the handle in on the back of the unit. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work:
2. Remove the top cover for easier access.
3. Time to remove the drain hose clip holding the drain hose adaptor to the softener valve. Simply pull the clip straight up and out.
4. Pull the entire drain hose adaptor out to the right, disconnecting it from the softener’s valve.
5. Use a towel to clean any sediment or residue from inside the drain port (on the valve). You'll also want to try and blow air through the elbow to make sure there's nothing stuck in the drain hose.
6. Reconnect your drain hose adaptor to the valve head with the black rectangular clip.
7. Return the top cover to the unit and pull the bypass back out.
